Classic Motorcycle Mechanics
Performance Bikes Magazine called on the expertise of Altamura recently for a recent article on good and bad paint. The article was designed to help people understand more about what makes a good and a bad paint job. We were happy to oblige because at Altamura we feel that many people are not getting value for money from many companies when they buy their new paint scheme. There is always someone who can do it cheaper but at the end of the day you get what you pay for and as they said in the article " If someone offers you a quick paintjob at a rock bottom price start walking-in the other direction."
Floating Art
The versatility of Altamura's design and paintwork skills was tested recently when PUMA commission Altamura to paint one of their round the world racing boats. The 70 foot boat was lying in Holland and we had just 2 weeks organise, mobilise and get the boat painted to look like a sewn shoe. We're sure you'd agree the final result is stunning and quite and head turner. Altamura took a team of artists over to Breskens in Holland to do the job, working long hours a flat out for 7 days to job was completed in record time ready for the boat to be shipped to the USA for the grand unveiling.
Ben Cohen: Helping raise Money for Charity
Ben Cohen and Triumph recently approached Altamura to help design and paint a themed bike for Ben Cohen's testimonial charity auction in support the Northampton Air Ambulance Service and the cancer charity " Orchid". THe bike was donated by Triumph and we were given just 2 weeks to develop the designs, finish and deliver the bike ready to be auctioned to a star studied audience by Lord Geoffry Archer. George Cohen, Ben's uncle played in the 1966 football world cup and of course Ben was an integral part of the 2003 victory over Australia in the rugby world cup; the challenge being to link the two in a celebration of success. The finished bike was sold to the chairman of a mining company and is off to its new home in South Africa.
Arai & Altamura: More than just a paint company
Arai Europe recently commissioned Altamura to come up with some cool designs for their off road range of helmets. Several designs were submitted a sent to Arai for their purusal; two were selected and the next stage was to create the sample helemets from which the mass produced items would be modelled. These were completed and sent to Japan to be turned into the final production item. Watch out for them on the shelves later this year.
