What happens to your bike after an accident - repair networks explained
Many brokers, insurers and claims management companies have approved repair network. They do this for two reasons; as a source of sales revenues and to minimise the cost of claims. These networks can be small consisting of 1-2-3 repair mega-centres which can be quite impersonal or a number of regionally located repairers who are often more customer orientated.
Remember though, wherever your bike is repaired, it is important to all of us to reduce the cost of claims because that helps keep our premium costs down
Most importantly, you have a choice as to where your bike is repaired. So before you make the decision make sure you understand the capabilities of the repairer that may be suggested to you. If you are not happy then take control and insist on your choice of repairer. Ask yourself the question, do you want your bike to go to the other end of the country to get repaired or would you rather it stayed in the same region as your home? Its greener to stay closer to home as well!
Large Repair centres may not be a bad thing but in many cases their sheer size and drive to get throughput may mean your bike is not repaired to the same meticulous standard that you would expect. Flexibility is lost and they may not be so focussed on getting the best outcome for you the customer.
Not all insurers deal with the practicalities of repair process and dealing with the detail side of the repair part of your claim directly but allow their brokers or other management companies to dictate what happens to your bike. So make sure you understand who is dealing with the repair on your behalf-you after all are the customer
